The invention of holiness

Anna’s Mother:Man In The Sky forbid!

~ The invention of lying (2009)

I think it’s really interesting how ancient man found a way to exonerate his absurd ideas from scrutiny; by inventing the concept of “holiness”. Want to protect a silly lie from criticism? Just say that it came from a holly source that’s above inspection.

Little did he know that his invention would be effective for ages to come, and people who lived long after he had perished would still respect his foolishness and use sacredness to protect it from perishing with him.

There is a limit. Every religion has its dignity … in freedom of expression there are limits. If my good friend Dr Gasparri says a curse word against my mother, he can expect a punch.

I think a cartoonist has just found an idea for her next satirical magazine cover.
